A gift guide for smashing the patriarchy
Gifts for when you want to topple misogyny, and a few items for when you just want to buy something beautiful from inclusive makers.
Hey friends,
It has been a minute. Hopefully you are weathering the second, maybe third wave of the pandemic ok. Here in Edmonton, we have finally had the sort of snow that reminds people that Christmas is right around the corner. That is, if you’re pre-Halloween COSTCO trip hasn’t done that already.
So in mid-November and possibly mid-lockdown what else is there to do but put the holiday lights up, turn on some music, and do some online shopping?
I’ve put together a list for American and Canadian shoppers that feature beautiful handmade items, a touch of kitsch, and a passion for inclusion.
Boobs Mug by Crudely Drawn (pictured above) $24.45 CND
Just like in real life they come in all shapes and sizes. And now that the office is a home office, there’s no such thing as NSFW! Well, except for THAT Jeffery Toobin.
Bitch Media subscription $39.95 CND
“Bitch aims to put a lucid, balanced face on feminism for all kinds of folks, including people who aren’t really aware that feminism refers to more than women who don’t want to shave their legs, or simply getting more women into positions of power. Similarly, we encourage people to consider feminism as a necessary part of the broader social justice movement.”
Bitch Media is a feminist response to pop culture. Each issue has beautiful and original illustrations. No feminist list would be complete without a subscription to Bitch. I’ve been a subscriber since 2014 and a reader for much longer than that.
